Samana Peninsula is a province of the Dominican Republic to the north-east. Its capital is Santa Barbara de Samana, which is usually referred to simply Samaná.
Is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean in the north and in the east, with a highly populated coast of immense palm trees and beaches of fine white sand. The mostly mountainous terrain of the Sierra de Samaná occupies most of the geographical area of the province.
The climate is tropical rainforest, with an average temperature of 25.9 degrees Celsius and moderate annual precipitation.
The economy leaning on agricultural production, mainly coconut and on tourism. Yet, tourism development in Samana is generally low compared to Las Terrenas and Las Galeras, which are the main tourism destinations of the Samana Peninsula.

In the province is the National Park Los Haitises, the largest national park of Dominican Republic, with lush vegetation and a high concentration of bird species. The observation of humpback whales as they migrate through the area has become a major tourist attraction for local and foreign tourists.
